Why do businesses use Razorpay?

The usual reasons go beyond the fee. Razorpay plugs straight into Shopify, WooCommerce and Wix; many developers and agencies have set it up before; individuals and unregistered businesses can sign up without GST; and it comes with extras such as one-click checkout, payment links, subscriptions and payouts. Which payment gateways work with Shopify in India?

Shopify's own list of payment gateways for India includes Razorpay, Cashfree Payments, PayU, PhonePe, Paytm, CCAvenue and Easebuzz, so a Shopify store isn't limited to Razorpay. Which payment gateways have a WooCommerce plugin?

Razorpay, Cashfree Payments, PayU, PhonePe and Instamojo publish official WooCommerce plugins on WordPress.org, and a Paytm plugin is listed there by a Paytm developer account. Which payment gateways work with Wix in India?

Is another payment gateway harder to set up than Razorpay?

Not usually. A developer who has set up Razorpay before can do it again quickly, but store-builder gateways all connect the same way: install the app or plugin, then add the API keys from the gateway's dashboard. Every gateway in this guide publishes its own developer documentation. Every gateway also advertises a quick start, but their own pages give times from a few minutes to a few days, so allow time for the KYC checks.

Can you use Razorpay without GST?

Yes. Razorpay accepts "Individual/Unregistered Businesses", such as freelancers and small stores, according to its own list of business types and KYC documents. Two alternatives say the same:

• Cashfree Payments accepts "Individuals (unregistered) or Proprietorship".
• PayU asks proprietors for "any two" government proofs, and GST registration is only one of the options.

What is Razorpay Magic Checkout, and how much does it cost?

Magic Checkout is Razorpay's one-click checkout: it fills in a returning shopper's details and helps manage cash-on-delivery orders. Razorpay doesn't publish its price; it lists Magic Checkout under enterprise pricing, so you have to ask its sales team. The closest alternatives are Cashfree's One Click Checkout, which Cashfree says typically suits stores doing ₹10 lakh or more in sales a month, and PayU's CommercePro checkout for WooCommerce and Magento. Neither publishes a price either.

Is Razorpay the cheapest payment gateway?

Which gateway costs you least depends on how your customers pay: if most of them pay by UPI, the UPI row matters most; if they mostly pay by card, look at the card rows.

What does Razorpay charge after its free offer ends?

Razorpay's standard fees apply: 2% + 18% GST on UPI payments and 2% + 18% GST on credit cards, last checked on 26 Oct 2026. On a ₹10,000 UPI payment, that leaves you ₹9,764.00. The offer itself, from Razorpay's published terms:

For new sign-ups who qualify: a fee of 0% on up to ₹5,00,000 of payments, within 90 days of activation. GST is still charged on any fee you pay. It doesn’t cover some methods, such as prepaid cards, corporate credit cards and Amex.

Offers for new sign-ups don't last, so compare the standard fees. Clarifee never uses offers to rank payment gateways.

Before you choose

• Does it plug into your store builder? Check the first table above.

• When does the money arrive? See settlement times for every app.
• Is the rate published, or a "from" rate? "From" is the lowest a gateway publishes; your rate can be higher. If you're quoted a different rate, add it under Rates and every calculator on Clarifee will use it.
• Is anyone being rewarded for the recommendation? Several gateways run partner programmes that reward agencies and developers for referring businesses (Cashfree, for example). That's normal, but it's fair to ask whoever sets up your store.
