Methodology

Four things decide what lands in your account. Here’s how we work them out, where every rate comes from and how we check it, in plain words.

From payment to what you receive

  1. 1

    App fee

A percentage of the payment, a fixed amount, or both. Some have a minimum or a cap.

  2. 2

    GST on the fee

Usually 18% of the fee. Never charged on your payment itself.

  3. 3

    Other charges

Things like currency conversion or your bank’s fee, if they apply.

  4. 4

    What you receive

Your payment minus everything above. This is what lands in your account.

Example with a made-up 2% fee

Your customer pays
₹10,000
App fee (2%)
− ₹200
GST on the fee (18% of ₹200)
− ₹36
You receive
₹9,764

Two kinds of GST

GST on your sale

Not a cost. We never count it.

You add it to your customer’s bill and pass it to the government. It isn’t money you lose to the payment app.

GST on the app’s fee

A cost. We count it.

The app adds it to its fee and takes it from your payment. If you’re GST-registered you may claim it back later as input tax credit.

Questions

Often, if you’re GST-registered and have a valid tax invoice from the app. It’s a tax credit you claim in your returns, not cashback, so it doesn’t change what lands in your account.

We assume you can’t claim it until you tell us otherwise with the GST credit chip in the calculator. Check with your accountant.

Each app’s own pricing pages and terms, the RBI, NPCI, the Ministry of Finance, the GST Council and banks’ published charges. If a rate isn’t published, we say so and ask for your quote. We never guess.

Your own rate always wins. An offer price is used only while the offer is running and you’ve said you qualify, because most offers are for new sign-ups.

We count money in whole paise. Each fee, GST amount and other charge is rounded to the nearest paisa (half a paisa rounds up). Percentages are never rounded before they’re used. Treat every figure as an estimate: your contract or dashboard has the final word.

Every payment is treated as the average size you enter. Monthly and yearly fees are added once per app, and setup fees are spread over 12 months.

Enter an invoice that includes GST. The GST on your sale goes to the government, so it’s shown apart from your collection cost.
