RBI issues one rulebook for payment gateways and aggregators

A single Master Direction now covers online, offline and cross-border payment aggregators. Settlement to merchants follows the merchant agreement, which must state the timelines, and any extra charge must be shown to the payer before paying.
What it means for you
Your gateway contract must spell out when you get paid, and surcharges must be shown upfront.
